WEEK 11: TEAM CHALLENGE APARTMENT WALLPAPER

Just when we thought it was all over, we had another opportunity to work with Caro & Kingi in the team challenge apartment! This time it was with a whole new style with the couple having to drop to ‘dustrial’ from their infamous scandustrial style and go with a completely Scandinavian look. Lucky for them, all of our removable wallpapers are completely custom made so we can create something to suit any style!

This weeks design was a simple grey triangle repeated pattern which complemented the decor in the room perfectly.

If you love the wallpaper as much as the judges do, it can be purchased from The Block Shop.

WEEK 9: HALLWAY WALLPAPER

This week’s custom piece is probably one of our favourites produced for Caro & Kingi to date – a 1956 Map of Melbourne wallpaper for their hallway! Being week 9, we’ve adjusted to the chaos associated with installations at The Block – impossibly short deadlines and rooms full of various trades all trying to get the job done!

Our design team worked closely with both Caro & Kingi to produce this unique custom wallpaper. The colouring of the original artwork was changed to a soft grey which worked perfectly with the colour pallet of the apartment. Wrapping around the entire lift well, the custom, removable wallpaper showed key landmarks of Melbourne and of course the exact location of The Block!

The striking wallpaper is available to be purchased on The Block Shop. If you would like a custom wallpaper with a map of your area please contact us on 1300 4 GRAFICO (1300 447 235) or at info@grafico.com.au.

WEEK 7: KITCHEN BENCH WALLPAPER

It wouldn’t be a Caro & Kingi room without a unique, custom graffiti print! For kitchen week, the Blockheads supplied their own high resolution image for us to print as a removable wallpaper for the island bench front. The print was then laminated to increase the durability of the print and avoid scuff marks directly on the print. Yet again, Caro & Kingi’s edgy style was a hit with judges, with another win for the power team!

WEEK 6: LIVING ROOM CANVAS

After discovering a key from the Octagon Motor Inn during demolition, Caro and Kingi wanted to incorporate it into their apartment but weren’t quite sure how to do it. Who else would they call on but Grafico? Photos of the keyring were taken and edited to create a unique art piece which not only became a feature of the living room, but captured the history of the building.

If you have an item or image you would like converted into a custom art piece, be sure to contact us on 1300 4 GRAFICO (1300 447 234).

WEEK 5: BATHROOM MOSAICO DIGITALE & STUDY CANVAS

Another week… another win! Week 5 was by far the most challenging week that we have experienced on any of the seasons we have appeared on The Block. When Caro & Kingi confirmed that it was guest bathroom week it was all systems go and the pressure was on to get the tiles designed, produced, freighted and installed within a week. Did we mention that Mosaico Digitale is produced in Italy?? The entire team stepped up to the mark and although it was an exhausting week, it was all worth it when we saw the judges reactions “Wow…I have not seen that before”, “This is beautiful”, “Absolutely gorgeous”, “This is absolutely stunning” were just some of the comments made by judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer.

Caro & Kingi opted for a black and white tree silhouette in the traditional 20x20mm square mosaic tiles. All features of Mosaico Digitale are customisable including the image along with the size and shape of the tile. For more information on our exclusive product, Mosaico Digitale be sure to visit our product page.

The ‘Albero’ Tree Silhouette Mosaico Digitale along with the Nelson Mandela quote canvas are available for purchase on The Block Shop.

WEEK 4: GUEST BEDROOM FRAMED GRAFFITI CANVAS

Our Block faves have finally ditched their ‘bridesmaid’ stigma and taken the win this week with their guest bedroom and ensuite. Surely it was their Grafico canvas that helped them over the mark? Well we’d like to think so!

This week we created a custom stretched canvas keeping with their street art theme but with a slight twist. Industrial yet sophisticated, this soulful image invokes the rawness of Melbourne’s historic laneways and the city’s love affair with graffiti art. The bold abstract forms in this artwork by renowned graffiti artist Dvate are juxtaposed against the a vibrant yet muted brick wall, typical of a Melbourne laneway.

The black tray frame surrounding the canvas worked perfectly against Kingi’s dark grey rendered wall and yet again, was well received by the judges, especially Neale who said ‘once again… I love that art’.

This limited edition frame is currently available to purchase from The Block Shop.

We have a big week ahead with three rooms to reveal. I wonder what we’ll be creating for Caro & Kingi? Stay tuned!

WEEK 3: GRAFFITI LANEWAY CANVAS

Week 3 arrived and yet again, Caro & Kingi called on Grafico to create some custom art for their master bedroom. This time, Caro came to us with a very clear concept and provided an image that perfectly encapsulated Melbourne and tied in well with their bathroom artwork/bath – a Melbourne graffiti laneway. The image was then printed onto artists canvas and stretched onto a custom made, 2500mm x 1400mm frame.

We knew that the artwork worked perfectly for the room, especially as a contrast against Kingi’s amazing rendered wall and the judges agreed. “I love the art, absolutely love the art, that is so cool and so perfect for this apartment and I love the way they’ve picked the colours from the art and very softly referenced them in the styling,” said Neale Whitaker.

If you love this style as much as we do, you can purchase a similar image from The Block Shop as a wallpaper, stretched canvas or panel print!

We can’t wait to see what week 4 holds. Lets hope we can help Caro & Kingi over the line for a win!

WEEK 2: TRAM DOOR WALLPAPER

Continuing with her Melbourne themed apartment, Caro gave the Grafico team a call again to come up with a feature in the next room reveal – a guest bedroom. Proving that an artwork feature doesn’t need to be on a wall or canvas, with the assistance of the Grafico in-house design team, an iconic photo of a classic Melbourne tram was sourced.

Our design team then manipulated the image to create a pop-art ‘halftone’ look as plain black and white photo would just not be enough to impress the judges! The finalised artwork was then printed on our removable smooth wallpaper film and applied direct to the plain door to create an instant feature in the room.

If you love this design as much as the judges did, it can be purchased from The Block Shop as a wallpaper, stretched canvas or panel print!

WEEK 1: GRAFFITI BATH WRAP

After seeing her Grafico key ring on her newly wrapped Suzuki, Caroline and Kingi jumped on our website and discovered a host of inspiration for their apartment, starting with week 1 – bathroom week!

Wanting to bring a little bit of Melbourne into her bathroom, Caroline worked closely with Damian and Krysa, members of the Grafico design team. Together, they selected an iconic Melbourne graffiti image and decided to fully wrap the bath in a digitally printed, removable vinyl.

We have extensive experience wrapping all things from exotic cars to walls however, a bath wrap isn’t only a new concept for The Block, but also for Grafico! We are always up for a challenge and together with our skilled design, production and installation team, we got to work!

Here are a few behind the scenes photos from the big day. We can’t wait to see it installed and revealed later this week.

Good luck Caroline and Kingi!
