Go behind the scenes of The Block – DIY Wallpaper Challenge Thanks to Grafico & Canon Australia.

If you missed it on TV Tuesday the 2nd of September 20205 , This epic feat of logistics involved transporting an enormous “Canon Colorado” wallpaper printer all the way to Daylesford – and setting up a ‘pop up’ Grafico studio at the Block film studio. Complete with designers, printer operators and more!

Damian even slipped on his ‘judging’ hat being asked by Scotty to be a judge of the final designs which put extra pressure on! We were equally honoured to work alongside the amazingly talented artist Melissa MacFarlane @Kabinettstudio who guided the contestants in painting their own designs from scratch on canvas. Our design team then photographed the canvases and turned them in to a digital file prepared in to a patterned wallpaper design, then printed LIVE on the Canon Colorado printer! An epic logistics and planning exercise for all our team.

We couldn’t have done it without the help of Canon Australia who literally worked around the clock to get this mega printer transported and installed ready for filming in Daylesford. These printers don’t just ‘plug in’ to the wall and off you go, they usually take a week to ‘commission’ and they did it in 24hrs so just brilliant work, and an equally brilliant piece of technology we’re proud to have operating back at Grafico printing all our custom print wallpapers.

Judges Damian Corney & Melissa MacFarlane gave the win to “Matt & Robby” with their artistic interpretation of Daylesford’s rolling hills and landscapes. With its earthy tones, we can’t wait to see it installed in their home – House 5 on The Block. It was an unforgettable day, filled with creativity, passion, and talent!
